Windows crashes everywhere

I have a couple of (not very clear) pictures of customer devices that run windows crashing all over the place. Firstly is the BMI self check in station.

Next I have a self service till at Sainsburys.

Sainsbury till rebooting, windows fail.

I know that most shop tills are based on windows, due the corporate nature of these sorts of deployments. But it is still depressing to see that more reliable choices are available with Linux based systems that don’t seem to be getting any traction. Or is it because you never see the Linux ones rebooting because they are so reliable, so nobody knows they are there.

I’ve seen lots of these in shop windows, but I also see this on the Information booths dotted around the city.
